Media trail of the solstice in comparison with the media awareness of Arkaim visitors

The article examines the phenomenon of the summer solstice in the context of the functioning of the Arkaim monument. The prerequisites for the study are a scientific discussion about the role of the media in the formation of the esoteric potential of a place, provoking a visit to the monument for appropriate purposes. The author analyzed 32 publications in the media about the solstice day in Arkaim over the past five years (2018–2023), from which one can see a tendency to change the discourse about the solstice day, starting in 2022, when the date was actually institutionalized within the framework of the Arkaim Solstice festival. These publications were compared with the results of a survey of visitors to Arkaim on the days of the summer solstice, June 21–23, 2023 (based on materials from a scientific expedition of the Faculty of Journalism of Chelyabinsk State University). The survey showed that the overwhelming majority of respondents indicate that the source of information about Arkaim is not the media, but reviews of friends and acquaintances. At the same time, among visitors there is a strong association of Arkaim with spirituality, not necessarily expressed by esoteric rituals, but rather focused on new experiences.
