I International Scientific and Practical Conference "Shishmarenkov Readings"

The conference is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Galina Yakovlevna Shishmarenkova, who made a significant contribution to the development of philology and pedagogy, methodology of teaching literature and the Russian language, and who initiated the opening of the journalism department at the Faculty of Philology and the creation of a computer laboratory at the humanities faculties of CSU. The conference aims to comprehensively discuss the key areas of Galina Yakovlevna’s scientific, methodological, and practical work, and to draw the attention of the academic and teaching community to current issues in teaching humanities disciplines in secondary and higher education.

The conference will include sessions on the following topics:

- Issues in teaching literary and linguistic disciplines at humanities faculties of higher education institutions.
- Development of literary and linguistic communicative competence in higher education.
- Current challenges in teaching the Russian language and literature in general and secondary vocational education.
- Teaching humanities disciplines within the structure of professional education.
- Prospects for methodology as a science and professional practice in the context of digitalization and machine learning.
- The phenomenon of academic mentorship: pedagogical, sociocultural, and axiological approaches.
- Humanities education in the context of technological challenges.
- Problems in historical and theoretical linguistics.
- The Russian language as a developing adaptive system.
- History and modern state of children's literature.
- Professional competencies of the modern philologist.

Working languages: Russian, English.

Venue: 129 Brat'ev Kashirinykh St., Chelyabinsk, Russia.

Participation formats:

- In-person participation with an oral presentation (with or without article publication), including online presentations;
- In-person participation with a poster presentation (with or without article publication);
- Remote participation (with article publication).

Participation in the conference is free of charge. All speakers will receive an electronic certificate of participation after the event.

To participate in the conference and publish a paper, please send your application and article as two separate files to sh-chteniya@yandex.ru by October 1, 2025. Name your files as follows: AuthorSurname_application and AuthorSurname_article (e.g., Ivanov_application, Ivanov_article).

The conference program will be sent to participants in advance. Conference materials will be published no later than February 2026 in the journal Dinamika mediasistem (indexed in RSCI, DOAJ) and posted on the eLibrary.Ru website. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to decide on publication based on the peer review results.

Authors of presentations receiving positive reviews will be invited to prepare articles for publication in the journals Znak: Problemnoe pole mediaobrazovaniya (VAK list, Category K2, DOAJ, Erih+) and Chelyabinsky Gumanitariy (VAK list, Category K2).

For participants requiring visas or advance arrangements for travel to Chelyabinsk, please submit your application not later than September 30, 2025, indicating priority processing requirements. To participate in the conference, send us your abstract containing materials for presentation in article form (see section “Publications” below).
 
Publications: Conference proceedings (minimum 1,000 words, minimum six references) will be published electronically in the journal «Dynamics of Media Systems».
 

An off-site session will include a discussion on the concept of a collective monograph addressing current issues in visual media communications.
The format of the off-site session is a mountain Think Tank titled "Developing the Visual in an Overvisualized World: Research and Forecasts" (venue – Sunny Valley ski resort, March 1, 2026).

Professional development courses are available for conference participants.
