G. B. Zdanovich as a Poetic Figure in the Local Cultural Text of the Southern Urals (On the Problem of a Place's Information-Symbolic Capital)

This article examines the phenomenon of local cultural identity as refracted through symbolic figures – eminent individuals defined as "sign-names" – significant for a specific locality. The life paths of such individuals represent strategies perceived as cultural models; "sign-names" are considered within the context of the formation and recognition of a territory's information-symbolic capital. The article analyzes the life strategy of the Russian archaeologist Gennady Borisovich Zdanovich (whose name is associated with the discovery of the Arkaim archaeological site in the Southern Urals) through the lens of a poetic cultural-behavioral matrix and its functioning within the local text of Chelyabinsk as the central city of the Southern Urals. Zdanovich's career is investigated from the standpoint of a textological approach and cultural textology, aimed at identifying cultural codes expressed through binary oppositions. The analysis draws on materials from memoir-biographical literature, essays, recollections about the scholar, his scientific articles, video lectures, and archival footage featuring him. A parallel (comparative) text is provided by the poetic corpus (103,626 texts, 14,097,265 words) within the Russian National Corpus. The identification of the principal binary oppositions in the poetic corpus is framed within an anthropocentric approach: "Human Being – World." The core binary opposition "Poet – World" is detailed through the following dichotomies: "Poet – Nature" and "Poet – Society." The article highlights the particular role of G.B. Zdanovich's "sign-name" in the symbolic capital of the region and in the urban cultural code of Chelyabinsk as the center of the Southern Urals.
