The article raises the issue of the representation of media images of cultural landscapes in the modern travel discourse. The purpose of the article is to identify, systematize, and describe mytholexemes that serve as lexical means of representing natural and cultural complexes of the regions in Russia and other countries in the media texts of travel magazines. The material of the study was domestic travel magazines “Voyazh”, “Otdyh v Rossii”, and “Russian Traveler”. A total of 112 mythological lexemes were extracted from media texts published in 2022–2025 using the continuous sampling method. Their taxonomy is based on four criteria: source, etymology, fictional world object, and structural organization. Six main lexical-semantic groups of mythological lexemes have been identified, including simple, compound, and complex units from ethnic myths, religious and philosophical literature, and folklore, which are derived from Old Russian and Old Slavic languages, the official languages of numerous republics in Russia, and other languages around the world. It has been established that mytholexemes, due to their thematic and situational connections with each other, real toponyms, exotisms, and syntagmatic relations with attributive word forms with the semes ‘ethnos’ and ‘territory’, mark the upper layer of cultural landscapes, which is referred to as “Spiritual Culture” and is associated with regional, ethnic, and national identity.References
