The article deals with the issues of information and communication behavior of Russian teenagers, which are called "generation Z" in the Strauss – Howe paradigm. They are United by a 20-year time cycle characterized by specific events, phenomena, and mentalities. Representatives of the same historical stage have the same values, attitudes, behavioral and communication patterns. Communicative behavior refers to social interaction that has appropriate models, attitudes, standardized forms of verbal and nonverbal communication, as well as normative rules and frameworks. The research is based on the author's empirical materials and secondary analysis of sociological surveys of representatives of this social group, published in open access. It is noted that a characteristic feature of the communicative behavior of "generation Z" is distrust of mass communication media. They spend a lot of time on the Internet, communicating with their peers on social networks. They are distinguished by game addiction, inability to concentrate. Uncritical thinking and superficial perception of media products are combined with unjustified ambitions and excessive self-confidence. The article systematizes real and virtual communication practices of young people, compares them at the regional and Federal levels. The result of the analysis of the stated problem was the identification and characterization of behavioral patterns of Russian adolescents.
