Abstract

The author, who stood at the origins of the formation of public relations services in one of the developed Russian regions – Nizhny Novgorod region, considers in the article the history of the development of PR-structures in the region and topical issues of PR-education at the department of journalism, which has been preparing future PR – specialists for three decades. The issues of the regional specificity of the existing practice of interaction between the authorities, business and the scientific community with the public, as well as experience of distance education in the pandemic conditions are revealed.

Attention is drawn to the fact that modern communication processes have had a significant impact on the evolution of public relations as well as on the development of theoretical concepts of models and types of communication. The author concludes that over the past few years networked public relations are a new object of the theory and practice of public relations. In the past academic year, in the context of a pandemic, the issues of adaptability of the process of training PR-specialists to modern realities have been particularly relevant.
