Multimedia tools in international alternative media

Abstract

The article is an attempt to understand the difference between mainstream and alternative media. On the basis of the alternative media classifications made in this century the author give it own definition for the media that reject the mainstream approach to the coverage of international affairs. Special attention is paid to the developing new principles for alternative media classification that are based on the development of alternative news at the beginning of this century. The article contains a table that sums up the results of the research. Besides, the author show the difference between mainstream and alternative international news media through the coverage of important news during the first week of 2021 by the New York Times, Al Jazeera and RT.
