Abstract

Considering the practice of modern regional mass media, the author of the article notes its significant flaw – the refusal of a significant part of the mass media to register and publish readers' messages. It is explained by the growing servility of the media, which excludes the conversation about shortcomings, which are usually reported in readers' messages. The article traces the history of this people's communication with the authorities, emphasizes the important role that the press plays in its implementation. The digital world provides journalists with new opportunities to interact with audiences. Their effective use makes media more attractive, significantly expands their creative range, and helps to involve readers in solving important social problems.
