Abstract

The author describes such concept as the public communication, which is for the first time introduced into scientific circulation. The «public communication» has the character of a generalizing term for all types of communication functioning in society.

The relevance of this action is due to the fact that in media theory there is no general term for all types of communication, as well as the fact that there is confusion with the types of communication themselves: different authors differ in the number of types of communication and their essence. The methodology is based on the philosophical and anthropological approach, as well as the theory of discourse and the discursive field that has become widespread.

Thanks to the method of structural-field analysis of media discourse developed by the author and applied to the analysis of public communication, eight of its varieties were obtained: auto-communication, interpersonal, public (group), mass, social, intercultural, noospheric (biocommunication), transpersonal.
