Abstract

The printed press in the Russian regions is dying out. At present, this is, in particular, due to the depreciation of information, which has become redundant as a result of the expansion of the Internet, which has turned the entire Internet population into news producers, depriving traditional media of the most important source of income. As a rule, the free distribution of mass media is followed by the termination of its publication. The author of the article explores the patterns of this process. Despite its downward aspiration, he draws lessons from it that he believes guarantee the print press, if learned, a longer life. They may be useful to other media as well.
