International and regional journalistic codes: content-analytical research

The article analyzes the results of a content-analytical study of 432 international and continental/regional journalistic codes, as well as other documents regulating journalistic activities to reflect the mission, principles, norms, characteristics of information, the relationship of journalists with the state, audience, information sources and colleagues. Continents/regions, which poses new professional and ethical challenges for the journalistic community, which need to be solved by modernizing journalistic codes, taking into account the new working conditions for journalists, including in the digital environment.Ethical rules postulated by codes in the process of adaptation of journalists to the digital environment primarily take into account: the reliability and security of an online source of information, the creation of adequate links, editorial control over potentially harmful Internet content, compliance with the rules of confidentiality of information, correct work with social networks, and also regulate some aspects of the behavior of a journalist as an Internet user. The study showed that the severity of ethical problems of the journalist's activities increases with the complication of the functions and duties of a journalist in an unstable world, the difficulties of working in an online environment, which poses new professional and ethical challenges for the journalistic community.
