Abstract

This article is devoted to the study of such a media phenomenon as a newspaper headline. The author, referring to the linguistic experiment, examines the functioning of syntactic means of expression in the headlines of the newspaper "Komsomolskaya Pravda". This topic is becoming increasingly relevant due to the rapid development of the Russian media market and the increasing influence of the media language on the modern Russian literary language. Examines negative constructions, the designs with appeal, connection design etc. Special attention is paid to constructions with someone else's speech. The author explains why instead of the term "direct speech" refers to the term "foreign speech", analyzes the types of foreign speech found in the body of texts under consideration, pays attention to the features of the author's words in newspaper headlines, notes that the introduction of foreign speech in the analyzed headlines could be used along with other means of language expression.

The article identifies the functions that perform constructions with someone else's speech in the title: informative, drawing attention to the content of the material, forming the audience's interest in the text of the publication, transmitting the content of the material in a concise form, forming the reader's attitude to the described fact, event, phenomenon, influencing the reader's emotions, creating the effect of objectivity, reliability of information when covering an event, text-forming function, creating the image of the hero of the publication. The polyfunctionality of the header is emphasized.
