The relevance of this work is due to the formulation of a concept that explains the nature of the functioning of media in the modern world, which will make it possible to correlate professional practices with a synergistic paradigm.
- Studying the phenomenon of fact-checking reveals characteristics that are adequate to the expanding empirical base and which are the main properties of self-organizing systems.
- The dissipativity of fact-checking is determined by its self-organizing nature and the multidirectional movement of the ongoing processes.
- Fact-checking structures broadcast the results of their work discretely, appealing to the versatility of such phenomena as truth and fake. The structures themselves are discrete and not associated with registered media.
- The openness leads to a blurring of terminological boundaries. In the work, the terminological apparatus is adjusted and defines of the concepts of «factoid» and «fact-checking».
- The nonlinearity is expressed in the simultaneous existence of fact-checking structures and "anti-fact-checking" projects, the creators of which ridicule themselves, other publications and teach readers to check information.
Thus, the actual sound gets an understanding of the traditional duties of a journalist to verify the reliability of information and develop readers' media educational skills.
