Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the presentation of special journalistic vocabulary in modern reference literature, as well as the functioning of the latest media terminology in the works of researchers and in media materials addressed to a wide audience. The authors consider use of the words hypertext, medialogy, content, clickbait, hype and note the specifics of journalistic terminology, which consists in its conceptual vagueness and a tendency to broad interpretation and metaphorical use. At the same time, the special importance of media issues in modern information society ensures the stable demand for journalistic terms in their direct meaning not only in scientific, but also in journalistic discourse. The article emphasizes the need for consistent lexicological and stylistic study of journalistic terminology and ensuring its full-fledged dictionary fixation. Work in this direction should entail the correct and effective use of special journalistic vocabulary both in scientific works of various humanitarian orientation, and in media materials that have a significant impact on the linguistic consciousness and speech culture of society.
