Abstract

The article examines the representation of A. S. Pushkin's image in publications by domestic specialized online media, specifically in the so-called "intellectual" or "smart" glossy magazines aimed at fans of cultural and educational content who are interested in reading. The media chosen for the study were STORY, Snob, and Rules of Life. The article analyzes the context, evaluation, and nature of references to A. S. Pushkin and his image, as well as the opinions of our contemporaries about the author's figure, which are broadcast in the media environment, in order to identify the characteristics of the mythologems of the Pushkin myth in the media in the context of the 225th anniversary of the writer's birth. The article also examines the influence of the principles of media editorial policy on the selection of leading Pushkin mythologems, including as a means of conveying the values of their target audience. It is concluded that modern online versions of “intellectual glamour” publications, which combine cultural, educational, and recreational functions, offer readers a wide range of images of Alexander Pushkin and mythologems of the “Pushkin myth.” Some of these publications in their online versions publish media texts for a wider audience than that of a print magazine, and the process of universalization of content in online versions affects the representation of the writer’s image, making it more formulaic and desacralized. Another type of magazine focuses on different segments of the target audience and therefore addresses a wide range of aspects of the image, from the voluptuous poet to the “creator” of the Russian literary language, combining the perception of Alexander Pushkin by the average person, the creative intelligentsia, and the philologist. In general, modern online versions of domestic magazines in the "smart" glossy format create an image of Pushkin as the most recognizable Russian writer, one of the greatest artists, and thus spread the myth of the Russian national poet, the "absolute artist," and the "central figure of Russian culture." Moreover, a significant portion of texts mentioning the writer focus on personal or creative crises, making A. S. Pushkin the conscience of his contemporaries and the measure of the true talent of his descendants.
