“Journal of hunting”: the history of the emergence and functioning of the specialized printing market

Abstract

The article examines the history of the popular in the 19th century magazine about nature and hunting "Hunting Magazine". The magazine was published in different years under the guidance of famous scientists-hunters. G.G. Min published the magazine in 1858–1860, 1862, L. P. Sabaneev published the magazine from 1874 to 1877, A. E. Korsh published the magazine from 1890 to 1892. We have studied the content of the magazine, the program of the magazine. The magazine has always been interesting to readers. He gave new knowledge about hunting and hunting economy, about the life of nature. Scientists and practical hunters were published in the journal. Min was a propagandist of hunting, tried to attract hunters from different parts of Russia. L. P. Sabaneev continued the work of the Mine. He attracted scientists to cooperate. The magazine was aimed at an educated reader. He was supported by the hunting society. The magazine edited by A. E. Korsh supported the development of dog breeding. He covered dog shows, veterinary issues, and gave characteristics of dogs. The magazine contributed to the development of cynology as a science.
