Trauma-phobic discourse in regional media: rhetorical representation

The specificity of the representation of traumatic-phobic discourse as a complex of psychological and social reactions in regional media is analyzed in stylistic and rhetorical aspects. The empirical basis of the study was the publication of the city portal 74.ru, which is focused on different types of target audience and the universal nature of media messages. Variants of stylistic connotations in media texts are established, possible factors of such representation are indicated. The methodological basis of the study is the concept of rhetorization of the media space, which implies the implementation of the media text in the pragmatics of text units, on the one hand, and the totality of discursive, pragmatic and axiological practices, on the other. As a result, the representation of traumatic discourse becomes a prerequisite for posing the question of the axiological parameters of modern society reflected in the media. The means of verifying these parameters can be fears and phobias, explicated in public mass communication, or value indicators (found in traumatic-phobic discourse), which reveal that the inhabitants are afraid to lose in a crisis, social transformations, etc. The hypothesis of the formation and broadcasting phobias with the help of regional media resources: the latter, being a significant agent of the process of media exposure, reveal the potential of the actualization of the traumatic-phobic discourse, and at the same time its neutralization.
