Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the educational track in the field of training “Journalism” in the Republic of North Macedonia. As a result of the analysis conducted, it turned out that this direction of training is implemented in three large state universities at the faculties of law. The proposed general humanitarian and competency-based approaches to education are widely discussed among teachers and practicing journalists, scientists analyze the experience of various countries. With regard to the education of journalists in the Republic of North Macedonia, such a topic is considered in Russia for the first time. Based on monitoring the work programs of disciplines taught in the bachelor’s and master’s degrees, the author attempts to determine which approach is chosen. As a result of the analysis, the author comes to the conclusion that the humanitarian component prevails in training with an emphasis on the political and legal system of European countries, which negatively affects the professional qualities of novice journalists, and, accordingly, the materials they produce. Survey data show that citizens do not trust journalists and the media in general. The article suggests that the system proposed by Macedonian education does not develop professional skills in specialists to the required degree, but “creates” in the broad sense a humanist who probably does not have “support” in the sovereignty of his own state, but has a formed vision of the interests of a united Europe.
