The evolution of news in the digital technology environment
Keywords:

The digital world is seriously changing the structure, distribution methods, consumption style and other essential characteristics of news messages, which previously remained practically unchanged for a considerable time. The news, which has not changed for many centuries, has been rapidly evolving in the last few decades. The changes significantly deform journalism and the established system of communications, introducing new technologies into them, correcting the usual ethical norms. The task of the author of the article is to identify the most significant transformations in the world of news, to evaluate the phenomena generated by them. Solving it, he supplements the traditional, historically established functions of news messages with new ones that have arisen as a result of media digitalization. At the same time, the author refers to sources of both a historical nature and modern media studies. Particular attention is paid to the so-called online journalism, which has significantly changed the traditional ideas of media researchers and journalists about the news. The article notes that the digitalization of news journalism generates not only positive, but also negative phenomena that can distort the picture of the world that is formed by the media. Considering these phenomena as transient, characteristic of the first steps towards the digital world, the author at the same time emphasizes the need to take them into account in journalistic activities. In his opinion, the dynamic evolution of the main component of journalism as a result of media digitalization is a serious challenge for researchers and practitioners. It manifests itself in the daily activities of literally all modern media. Conclusion: this process should be carefully monitored by researchers and reflected in the training programs for future media professionals.
